- Prerequisite: MATH 181 or consent of the instructor. Covers vectors, rectilinear motion, particle dynamics, work and energy, momentum, rotational mechanics, oscillations, gravitation, fluids, wave properties and sound. Satisfies UNR science core curriculum. Formerly PHYS 201.
- Overview of physics for the non-science major. Specific sections include mechanics with kinematics, Newton's laws and the conservation laws; properties of matter, including the four states of matter; heat and thermodynamics; sound; electricity and magnetism; light and optics; and a small segment on modern physics, i.e., atomic and nuclear physics. There are four lab experiences included.
